Friendship with Jesus

We have to ask the question: Have You ever asked God to be part of Your life? He wants to have a personal relationship with You.  He thinks about You all the time! He knows You well!  He saw You before he created the world!  He knows how many hairs You have on Your head.  He has a Great Plan for You, for Your happiness!

So why do we need to formally ask God to be part of our life?

In Romans 3:23 it says: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”

That means that we do not have a friendly relationship with God. Because of our sin we are separated from Him. He is perfect. All of us are separated from Him. We have all sinned. We have all done things that are displeasing to God. There is no one who is innocent. Not even one. Not Billy Graham. Not Mother Teresa. None of us.

So what does sin look like?

Romans 3:10 – 18 tells us: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Their throat [is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips: Whose mouth [is] full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet [are] swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery [are] in their ways:  And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

What can we expect, because of all of this?

Romans 6:23 tells us what we can expect:  “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

What this means is that the consequences that we have earned for our sins is death. And that is not just physical death. We have earned eternal death and separation from God!

God is not just laughing at us and saying to bad for us! Romans 6:23 goes on to say: “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

God wants us to have eternal life.  He wants that for us so much that He sent His only Son to take the punishment that we deserve, in our place so we can have a personal relationship, a friendship with God!

Jesus died for us! It says in Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Can You believe this? The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for us!

The death that Jesus endured on the cross, the one You watched in the movie “The Passion”, that death paid for the price we should have paid for our sins.

The amazing part is that Jesus is not dead.  He is alive!  His resurrection proves to us that God has accepted that payment of the death of Jesus on the cross. That is the whole payment for our sins.

So how do we accept this wonderful gift that God has given to us?

It says in Romans 10:9: “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

This death of Jesus’ that paid our penalty, all we have to do is:

  • Believe in Jesus
    • We have faith in the fact that the death of Jesus on the cross was the
complete and full payment for our sins.
    • We have faith in the fact that God accepted that payment in full,
there is no other requirements to pay for our penalty.

It also says in Romans 10:13: “for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” This is another confirmation of our Gift of Life.

Jesus died. That completely paid the penalty for all of our sins and rescued us from eternal death, eternal separation from God.

Salvation is the complete forgiveness of all of our sins, is available to everyone, all who will just trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

What does all of this mean?

If You believe in Jesus and that His death completely paid the debt of our sins, then look at this. Romans 5:1 says: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

What Jesus did for us has brought us into a relationship of friendship and peace with God.

It says in Romans 8:1: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” That means that because of the terrible death that Jesus paid for us on the cross, we will never be condemned for our sins, if we only trust in Him! Can You believe that?

After all of this God confirms to us these promises with this Romans 8:38-39: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Would You like to know my Jesus? He so badly wants to have a relationship with You! If You want to have this relationship just speak these words to Him, right now!  He will hear You and forgive You!

Jesus, I know that I have sinned and I am Sorry. I believe in You! I trust that the price You paid for me on that awful cross has paid the penalty completely that God required to be paid. Thank You, for dying for me! Come into my life and change me to be the person You want me to be! Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness! I accept this gift of eternal life that You have given me. Amen!

The Lord Bless You!

And now Lord I pray in the Name of Jesus that You will seal this decision by and through Your Holy Spirit! Help them to grow in You. Bring into their life those that will help them learn about You. Thank You for their decision!  Bless them. In the precious name of Jesus I pray! Amen!
